the game of names

Why, yes, it's a good idea to name her. She is, after all, the hero's late wife. . . .

The fun of it being that her plot device purpose is to have borne his daughter and died. She's not a serious rival for the heroine. I might have the daughter throw her at the father but that's because the daughter is a brat. All the feminine roles in this stretch of the drama are filled by the heroine, the daughter, and the hero's mother.

Nevertheless, someone telling the story would name her, and so I need a name.

Meanwhile, another idea popped up that the hero's father might have had a reason to marry him off the first time, when he was distinctly young. (Springing from the heroine's exclaiming over it.) It may pertain to his second marriage. . . hmm
