only die once

So, Sleeping Beauty's parents die while she's asleep. (Perrault, not Grimm, the learned will note.)

And in my revising, I put the mother's dead right after the sleep. Instead of having her dramatically ailing after the first prince fails and dies in the roses.

Hmmm. . . .

She can only die once.

Though I can make her husband's death a more prolonged process if it will fill up the gap.

Meanwhile, in another tale, I need a mother for a Sleeping Beauty who was a peasant, and thinking of Cinderella before reminding myself not to grab the Pop Top 20 even for back story, especially since it's merely a Sleeping Beauty variant and so enough Pop Top 20. Perhaps -- Mother Holle?
