fairies and dwarves and talking bears

The fairies showed up in the first scene, at the christening.

The dwarves showed up soon after, hanging out with one fairy and then working at the princess's before she sleeps.

And then a talking bear ambles in with probably four-fifths of the novel's plot behind it. Should I shrug and say it's a fairy tale? Throw in some talking animal bit characters? Reveal in the end that he's enchanted? If so, human or dwarf?

You know if he's enchanted, I can simplify the issue of both the prince and princess being heirs to their respective kingdoms, by making his lands enchanted too, until the enchantment breaks. Hmmm. . . .

(That still doesn't settle whether he's human. Iron Hans was human and left his kingdom to the prince and princess, which is what they will need here. Or perhaps it was one of theirs by right.)
