There are four individual (and large) stories about necromancy and its uses and defenses against it, tracing its history.
There are also three shorter and more personal stories in some relationship to it. One involves a minor character from the first story as the main character, plus some other characters. One involves, I think, a minor character from the first story as a minor character.
I think I need to define where they take place. I can tell you what countries the first four take place in, and where they stand. A physical location will help pin them down. They feel like they are in limbo, perhaps, because they are.
