ham-handed orchestration
There's a group of people. They have to go do something.
They are, I notice, a bit like a D&D adventuring party. Not in classes, given they are magical knights, but they are setting out to do noble deeds. I was having a bit of a trouble getting a grip on them beyond that they weren't such idiots that any of them would try it alone.
So I assign them a random bunch of motives, all logical, just taking care that no two of them have the same one, and they start doing annoying things coming to life and taking on more prominence that other characters, so I had to detail their motives. This one is running away from his family, these three are all doing for an ideal -- a different ideal in each case, this one wants to fare far --
The bright side is that I figure out where it starts, which means the outline can begin in all seriousness.
