Silver Canyon

Silver Canyon by Louis L'Amour

Action! Adventure! Mystery!

The narrator arrives in a town where there's trouble brewing. Then, there is also a beautiful young woman. He tells he'll marry her, and gets a beating from a man who declares he's going to marry her.

So naturally, the narrator goes to a beleaguered man, caught alone between two big outfits, and offers to buy him out or become his partner. He agrees, but while the narrator is talking with some neighbors, the man is murdered -- and leaves him the place.

The tale winds on, with the narrator knowing a man of the same name as one who disappeared, the shooting of horses, a murdered man and where he died, a revelation of a relationship, a telegraph with vital knowledge, and more.
