The first silent movies lacked credits, and imploring letters went unanswered, so the fans assigned nicknames to the stars to be able to talk about them.

Ah, fandom. :)

When the gene for adult lactose tolerance first appeared in humanity, humans had already had ways to cope with making milk edible for many years. Where it first appeared -- Turkey -- for instance, if you left milk alone for a bit it would be yogurt, with a good chunk of that lactose fermented away. The gene nevertheless spread like wildfire, faster was believed possible before it was traced. This raised the little question of how drinking fresh milk could be such an advantage over just waiting a bit for it to ferment.

That is bizarrely intriguing.

One immigrant boy was shocked when he had brought a bedbug along when a guests, and the hostess shouted at him that she had never had a bedbug in her house before. A house without bedbugs? Unimaginable! His mother reassured him that she was a snob, but he noticed thereafter she was making more efforts to keep home and clothes clean.

Eurrgh.

Bedbugs scare me. :P
