I'll be honest, I had no idea what to make of Pasquale's name. I figured it was one of those pseudo-African names until, much later (since this was before the interwebs), when a Tidewater talkshow host, named Pasquale Giovanni, made me realize that it was a normal Italian name.
Before I get accused of racism, my problem with African-American names is that... for the most part, they're syllable-salads, being names in neither America, nor anywhere in Africa.
