Oh, now that would be interesting.  Imagine a culture that planted memorial trees instead of headstones.  It might be slightly macabre:  I recall the urban legend of a family apple tree under which at least two members of the family were buried, and the tree gave excellent fruit; only later when it died and was removed did they see how its roots had enveloped the interred corpses…
