on an improvement in homes. . . .
A character leaves her home, which is horrible, and is brought to a new place. Much better in every respect. Even when she first arrives, she notices many things that are obviously much nicer about it. (Well, nicer for her.)
Nevertheless, it was abrupt, and a big shock, and she knows no one now, and I have to figure out ways to slither in her reaction along with her knowledge that she would never, ever, ever leave this place. (If only because it would be hazardous to her health and life to return, after what happened to her.)
Especially since she is not the sort who likes big changes.
On the other hand, she spends a fair amount of time in buildings that are at least analogous to places back where she came from -- and her favorite places, there too. (Libraries, for instance.)
And they keep her fairly busy.
Shall have to lard more in. The only thing I know for certain is that she will remember a fairy tale in resolving not to go back as soon as I figure out were it goes.
