hints and insanity

Ah the ramifications of the magic system. . . .

There's a boy. I have to hint that he's a starborn knight. He has to do things that the reader, at least, will pick up as signs of his powers before he realizes it himself. He doesn't know the possibility of spontaneous knights from stellar magic.

(Finally! A term that fits! And as a side-effect, there's also the starsprung, or earthsprung, or airsprung knights who are not spontaneous, but whose wellspring of power is the stars, or earth, or air. And probably fierce debates about whether some allegedly hedge knights were not, in fact, given power by hedge witches but born with it.)

And there are at least two cases where knights go insane. Nicely vague term. May not match any form of known madness because their prowess interrelates, and goes berserk. May need to define it more, since one of them is a point of view character. Also, am thinking that the other one will be able to do things no other knight can do. Insanity produced odd effects.
