knights errant
Rumors are flying. One is that there is a knight errant, wandering about, doing good deeds.
Knights hate those kinds of rumors, because wandering knights without allegiance can not be trusted. At best they are hedge knights, made by hedge wizards for their own purposes. Then there are those who lost their liege lord. Who can trust such a traitor?
That does not keep them from being popular and a subject of folk tales. Amazing how many excuses you can make for a man breaking faith with his lord, especially when you're one of the peasants.
They are actually the most like classic superheroes this world has, come to think of it.
