vignettes

This week's prompt is:
workable 👷‍♂️

Anyone can join, with a 50-word creative fiction vignette in the comments. Your vignette does not have to include the prompt term. Any (G or PG) definition of the word can be used.

I found him in the ceramics lab, slamming a mess of semi-liquid clay back and forth on the wedging table. There was something about his expression that suggested it would be best not to interrupt him. So I got back to my own project and left him to his work.

About an hour later, having pretty much emptied both of the scrap-clay bins, he took a sizeable lump of clay and set to work creating a series of small sculptural pieces. It was so different from what he had been doing that I hazarded a question.

"It's a great way to work off stress. That way I don't beat the snot out of someone who richly deserves it, and the lab ends up with a lot of workable clay, ready for the next class."
