objectifying

Making a magical object.   

Finding it difficult because the obvious magical items are not aesthetically appropriate -- swords, rings, capes, boots -- no, wait a minute, maybe boots would work.

The thing about it is that silliness is fatal to the effect her, so the object has to be a metaphor for the effect
