wild supers

Into a setting, I introduce spontaneously developing supers. Always before -- for centuries -- supers had been deliberately made, for the service of king and country or at least the super-maker himself. . . .
Then it occurred to me -- made for, yes. Doing? Not so certain. In fact, I think the term for a super whose powers spontaneously develop is at first going to be the same as the term for a super who took off to do his own thing, as has been happening for centuries. Especially since their first reaction is going to be that they must be supers who took off and did their own thing. And of course they are going to say that they have no master who made them, what else would such traitors say? (If they had escaped an evil master, they would have gone to the king for justice.)
It will complicate lives.
(Meanwhile, I also have to decide whether a major antagonist power's wife is also a power.)
