One More Last Time by Eric Ugland
A LitRPG. The narrator is in deep trouble when he gets the offer, chooses a lot randomly, gets his choices fixed up a bit, and lands in a fantasy world.
Adventures, action, discoveries. He does have a character sheet, and I conclude that the "increase your skills" is a better literary device than the "flurry of lots of skills" that I have also seen. His past life ties into his characterization and adventures in a way I don't usually see in this genre; great idea, could have been more adeptly handled. First in a series and the ending hits a turning point rather than a conclusion. A good sharp turning point, to be sure.
