knights and monsters

Wizards have a bad habit of creating monsters. This on top of their being prone to making knights who serve them and not the king -- or even sanity. But monsters are something else again.
For one thing, wizards have to actually "knight" each knight to make one. Thus, they stop when they die. (Yes, there are necromancers in the land. No, they do not get to be liches. There are in fact animated skeletons, bearing no relation to their original soul, and captive souls called ghosts, who can not work magic as in life. And Nothing Else.)
Monsters? Monsters keep on generating long after you die -- possibly even at the hands of monsters. Mindless and horrible things. Still working on the name. Monsterium possibly since they are certainly a place, not a portable object, fortunately for the knights.
The possibility of knights appearing spontaneously will, it occurs to me, cause people to think that they are monsters who manage to look human. Shapeshifters, perhaps. Going to have to consider who will think of that. Others, of course, will jeer at them and say they are obviously rational and must be hedge knights from some malevolent hedge witch.
