To the Bloody End by Rachel Aaron
Book 3, spoilers ahead for the earlier books. (And even a few for the other DFZ volumes)
It opens with an attack against Victor as he grandstages with one of his miracles. Spoiler alert: it doesn't work.
After which, we get filled in with such details as what is happening to Valente with the vows gone, the issues with Paladins, inventing a boat and a stairwell to get to where they need, a lot of fast food, plots and plans, Victor's weakness that it's hard to draw on people's faith in the Hero when he's clearly beating up on people weaker than he is, and more.
