point of view as a characterization tool
Sep. 2nd, 2018 10:51 pmIt's amazing how long it can take to realize something obvious.
Like, how to better characterize the man whose true love died, from his point of view, a week ago. (Actually, many years ago, but he was completely out of commission for them, and she had been alive when he was last in commission.) And he's not overt about grief.
And wrestling with it for a long time before I remember that while another character is the main point of view character, he can have his own point of view. Even wrestle with his niece and traveling companion, who is the daughter of the woman who killed his true love -- and is herself running away for fear of what her mother will do to her.
