marycatelliPondering the question of whether the Gamelit story was the history of another one. And concluded: Yes! There is something that will happen in it that will affect the latter story's world-building. Basically a magical protection against the villains of the earlier story.
And then I remembered that I had been putting goblins and ogres in the earlier story. Problem. Because while this world has goblins and ogres, they are NOT your standard Gamelit goblins and ogres. In particular, they can not engage in human-understandable speech. (That certain of their sounds are speech is deduced from the way they act while and after it.)
So -- hmmm -- what sort of beast-men can they be? Pigmen would be fairly hairless, and quite dangerous. Dog men are a possibility for the smaller ones. Not hounds, but pugs of some kind. The wizard who made them -- all beast men are made by wizards -- had ideas for loyalty. Shall have to fiddle with the ideas some.
