I have heard from campers that it is possible to walk by starlight. Still, readers may revolt. (It's not enough to be accurate. You have to convince the readers that you are accurate.)
The point of view character will, of course, see nothing in color. Indeed, in an earlier scene, roses that he knew were actually turning red looked black to him. (There was a little more light then.)
Ah, decisions, decisions. The good thing is that I didn't make any comments about the phase of the moon within a definite time period, so I am constrained on how it rises. (A good bloody red might help with theme, too.)
