The question is one of food. What do they have to do to store food?
Hmm. I had been thinking of it as in the era of early cars. Then refrigeration would be possible -- or iceboxes, and these characters could make some impressive iceboxes. And canning would definitely be in.
Which is good because the character will eat like birds. Especially those that have to fly for long distances. Flight is very calorie intensive, and some of them fly as long as some of the longer migrations.
