Cloak Mage book 2. Spoilers ahead for the first -- and for the Cloak Games series.
It opens with Nadia getting leaned on by the local organized crime, and then getting a call from the High Queen of the elves. Nadia is to investigate a murder with an officer of Homeland Security -- which, in this world, is the police force, and of which she has no great opinion.
They clash. But they also make progress. It involves a wraithwolf that does not turn into mist when it's the sensible path, Nadia's security system, talk of corruption, the progress of the fruit import business, the return of Tyth to help, and more.
