It's all very well to establish that the heroine fears for her life, and hopes that certain history will give her some clues on how to survive.
But if it leads into a chunk of info-dumping, it's probably wise to have her try to catalog its usefulness as it goes, and even despair at times, and wonder if she has another thing to do. (She doesn't.)
And talk with her source of information from time to time.
And now I need a time when a fairy tale hero or heroine did something three times leading to disaster. . . .
