Could they be ghosts? wondered Autumn as the pearl-white swans glided between the lily pads and the equally white lilies. The swans did cast a pale, almost luminous reflection on the ripples.
Then a girl, as pale as the swans, rose up among the ripples. She cast a reflection, too.

Why, he mused, did his mirror at 65 seem to show the same face as it did at 25? Close inspection showed far less hair, and much whiter than before. Yet the lines didn't appear in his mind. Why was that? "Handsome devil!" he said, and turned out the light.

Rosine scowled. Was that someone moving ahead? Heavily armed if so, but then who but a fool would venture into these corridors without many weapons? And spells. One of them hung back.
And then she realized that she had hung back, staring at their reflection ahead.
"A mirror!" she called.

"It is not all reflected. Some stays behind."

"Can an adept can summon images from yesterday?"

"Yes, grasshopper, and make them speak, too. But you overlook something."

Jess scrunched his face to think, saw the look on Master Ludi's face, and relaxed.

"How many reflections does it take lose your soul?"

Ludi smiled.

The marble was polished so smooth that it was a mirror. Aidan said, his voice low, "How far off can they see our reflections?"
"Hard to tell," said Robert. "Watch for theirs. If we can't see them, they can see us only through magic, and the stone wouldn't matter then."

"We could make a mirror," said the professor. "An enormous mirror. Concave. Set you both up to feed your light into it right, and then point the concentrated light at the culprit."
"You," said Apollos, "would need a mirror made up by some mad gadgeteer. The light is not ordinary."
