So how long did the hero woo the heroine if there were roses in bloom from beginning to end?

Putting in a winter is just dillydallying, and it does not take much time in the original tale. (Not that fairy tale time is orderly.)

Fortunately they can have a very modern spread of roses in bloom in a kingdom where ordinary transport is often afoot. Because fairy tale.

Though -- hmm -- there may be some clockpunk transportation.
