every prince should have one

marycatelliHmm. . . the story is plugging along and I know that they know bad things about this prince. . . and then I give him a backstory for it. . . and then it occurs to me. . . .
There are other princes in this story who should get them.
Not every one of course. The ones whom the princess thinks of as merely being the ten this year don't even get names and certainly no stories. (Look, if you want to be part of a crowd of idiots, don't blame me if I just sketch you in as a crowd.)
But there were four named princes, and I could fit the other three into stories as well. Probably. Bearing in mind that they had to be one of the characters whose life came to an abrupt end in story, or else ones whose stories ending with their getting the hell out of Dodge, in which case they might think trying the deathly dangerous thing to rescue a princess might be their ticket to survival. Not to mention that I had to choose distinctly different tales for them, and distinctly different in the parts I would be telling. There are lots of tales, and lots of types of tales, where the youngest prince is killed by his older brothers, and the king finds out, but only one is feasible if that's all I mention.
This is hardest for the one whose life will not end, and who has to be sympathetic.
But I was plugging along, and realizing, oops, I forgot the fifth named prince.
And it occurred to me that it might be wise for them to make SOME effort to save the princes when they aren't being actually prevented from doing so for another twist.
