weather and the wizards

There are going to be some characters who are ungrateful for the green and pleasant land they live in. They claim that the wizards are not needed. They claim that the wizards' purported protection is from the wizards themselves.

For instance, they keep the weather more or less seasonable. Storms get through, now and again, as too rigorous control, especially in too short a period, tends to erupt in monstrosities. And these people claim that this is the natural condition of weather.

I think they will be sent off to a land outside the wizards' control for comparison. Though I don't think this will cure them all; they will maintain anything they don't like outside the kingdom was generated by the wizards to make it look bad. Fortunately they aren't wizards. . . .

One wizard thinks they ought to be put more firmly in their place, but that's just some characterization.

Wouldn't there also be a low level discontent since one weather doesn't fit everybody at the same time? The farmer wants a little rain but the tanner wants it sunny today. And since people remember the bad longer than the good, there'd be a "They're not very reliable" always in the background.

Probably, but that tends to get lumped under "everybody's a critic."
