once upon a christening
Oct. 17th, 2021 04:00 pmA fairy who had not been invited showed up to the christening.
So she shows up and curses the princess to sleep for a century.
Politics are behind it. (Though I haven't decided exactly what. Perhaps her favoritism toward the kingdom they are allying against through an arranged marriage? Perhaps her habit of giving her godchildren happy marriages was foreseen to possibly interfere? Both? Neither?)
And how much of her motivation is purely political? I think she will say that she's sparing the little princess a horrible match and being the center of a tug of war, but I have not worked out how sincere she is. (Or may become. hmm She doesn't have to be static.)
Is there another fairy who will give the princess a gift afterward? Not one that will keep her awake, and indeed, what could she give? Perhaps a happily-ever-after which really throws a monkey wrench into the idea of their arranged marriage? Or perhaps I should excise her. The uninvited fairy can handle anything needed to be nice to the princess if her character is built to ensure it, and she can count.
