The Hero has met the Love Interest. Good, good, good, there are things that depend on this in the climax.
I need to stall. She might fall in love rapidly, but he would not.
Which means I need to dig through the villains and decide who's getting boosted to a serious threat to give our heroes something to do while the romance subplot does its thing. (And give her a chance to impress him. Hmmm. . . . )
Meanwhile one of its sequels is pointing out that it should be a magnet for rescues because of a theme set up by one character.
