So if you're strong-willed, and a wizard tries to turn you into a magical knight with a powerset that doesn't really match your character, you end up with magical powers that don't exactly match
Naturally wizards, and kings and lords who employ them, prefer weaker willed knights. Especially since they will then go where you tell them without argument.
Our young hero is pondering the question of whether you can be a strong-willed knight and not have a strong opinion about your powers, you just want something that will help, but do have strong opinions about where you will fight. Moot for him, both because he's of too lowly birth for knighthood in a land as stable as his, and because it would not work for reasons he know nothing of yet,
I think it doesn't matter whether you care. It will match your character anyway if you are strong-willed. Wizard, kings, and lords take this as a warning.
