here comes the queen

Ah, characters.  There's one who's introduced to be cute and little and round out a happy ending to the first story.  Being all wide-eyed with wonder at the notion of adoption.

She casually observed that she's going to marry the crown prince of the kingdom this is in and so become queen.

I give her the sideways glance because I have not, in fact, married off the king of the kingdom, let alone given him a son.

She smiles serenely and observes she may just be a princess at the end of the books in question, if I want to give the king a long life, but after all, there's another prince (in the first book) turned king who will die and leave the throne to his son so there's plenty of time.
