The scrubby growth didn’t provide a whole lot of cover, but as long as Lisa stayed low, she could observe the comings and goings of the various customers of the shop without being noticed. Right now her biggest problem was the variety of insects that made these brambles their home.

At least Soviet equipment used the same basic screw heads, so Lucius Belfontaine was able to get the motor torn down in a reasonable amount of time, using the familiar tools he'd brought with him from the American moonbase. It didn't take long to locate the problem.

"Either the Commies used substandard materials for the brushes in this thing, or the cosmonauts haven't been keeping up with their maintenance routines."

The lighter gravity of the Moon had all sorts of unexpected effects, and Shelly was still discovering some surprising ones. For instance, it was much easier to displace something by merely brushing against it. And given that pressurized volume was at a premium, everything up here was far tighter quarters than any terrestrial habitation save a submarine, so it was hard to avoid such mishaps by staying further away from things set on edges of countertops and the like.
