The heroine is not an idiot. When she notices the hero is good looking in a circumstance that makes him look bad in many other ways, she thinks she is one.

But she is going to notice. And meekly observe that she thinks she would recognize him if she saw him again.

So I have to smuggle it in. (Fortunately, he doesn't notice her in this scene. She was part of a crowd.)
