People moved about the building like sheep about a meadow, eyeing her, and if not bleating, murmuring to each other about the sight.
Marlene shifted.
"It's all part of being a princess," said Sylvie, her voice very low. "Being seen."
"All the more after you've been in danger," said Marlene.

As Toni made her way through the Contra Costa School of Magic in search of the griefer, or at least his digital fingerprints, she was keenly aware of how well the devs had blended their source material. The obvious inspiration for the structure was the famous Winchester Mystery House down in San Jose, but the fluidity of the interior structure went back to the series that had made the whole "magic school" genre so enormously popular. The result was a storyscape that remained true to player expectations of an Academy game, yet felt as if it'd grown organically from its California setting, rather than looking like an unthinking transplant of its English original to the New World.

"Oh, are you taking those inside?" Cora appeared at his elbow, looking at the wildflowers. "You will need water for the vase." She glanced at Rae, who nodded. "And a vase, we might need Diggory." She smiled on Rae. "You'll have to tell me if I have gotten it right."
