that scene

Revising along and had a scene in my story.
It didn't fit.
Having the hero meet a man who can talk to all the birds in the world is a classic fairy tale trope. He's usually the last of the three brothers that the hero meets, the first two being all the beasts and all the fish respectively. However, he actually does have to meet him. Having the fairy godmother talk with him about her goddaughter and the enchanted sleep, and how she thinks the prince is far off and so will need their help, only works if the prince actually. . . hmmm. . . hmm. . . .
His raven tells of a prince nearby enough that she doesn't have to get one from that far away. They crack jokes about how that will never make it into the tale.
