The joys of the open road.

After so many months at Sparta Point, Elaine had almost forgotten how much she loved to travel. And then the call had come in, that Governor Thorne needed her talent as a human lie-detector. So here Elaine was in a car headed to Eureka, where a California ANG plane was waiting to take her to Sacramento.

Yet Elaine felt somewhat apprehensive, even as she enjoyed seeing the miles go by. How hard would it be to go back up there after this brief taste of freedom?
