She cast the spell.
She felt the marble floor underfoot.
She let her breath out and stepped away -- tired, but not so much that it would show. The guardsmen already piled out, and Helena leapt down to begin her spellwork.
"What is the meaning of this?" bellowed the -- Lord Mayor himself.
She turned to face him. "Did you not come to the king for justice?" she said frostily. "Did you think that he would stint on it?"
"Got it!" shouted Helena, looking up from the bowl.

Walkelin looked at him. "And what inspires this -- number? They do not protect you tenfold if you carry ten."
"There are people who need to be protected, and who do not trust the king's knights, and who may trust us more if we give them the protection."
Walkelin eyed him.
"And I do not want to fight them, which we may need if they are controlled by one of those wizards," he said.
