His gaze traveled over them. "Yes, many deeds in these towers have been distinctly macabre. Very few of them using this spells, at that. But while the scholars have studied, the masters have studied the scholars. Mostly for their mastery, but also for mischief. And how to protect against it."

"They probably have to do it all the time," said Victor.    "Someone gets lost in the forest, and they have to search.    And then there's a murder of crows flying about, and everyone knows where the body lies.    At least as a herb, you don't have to find the murderer."

She wondered how hot it was, whether it would burn up bones. Then she grimaced. Hadn't the waste been enough to show her how much destruction this magic could work? And if it did not burn up bones, it did not matter. Much better to know how big they were.

Toni frowned as she looked over the designs for the new level of Mythos and Madness. “Let’s tone some of this down. Sure, there’ll be guardrails to keep players going too far, but design signals where these limits are going to be. Lovecraft is all about the place where awe shades into horror as we realize the universe is a whole lot bigger and more indifferent to us than the cozy little world of the Ancients. Leave the macabre to outfits like Cold Heath and Black Mirror.”
