marycatelliAh history. At some point, the love interest gets to explain to the heroine the history of his world, with particular reference to some vicious wizards.
First I had to decide how often they had made trouble. (Seven centuries, I conclude) Then I have to decide how the others react to it.
It occurs to me that the first time might have passed off as a fluke, but the second time not so much. It's a matter of juggling to ensure that the love interest gets exactly the situation that allows him to cope thus far, and no farther.
It's harder than it seemed at first, but -- I remind myself -- that's exactly why I have to work it out.
