Since the Tiwari sold us the plans for their stardrive, we've discovered just how heavily many of our basic assumptions were based on human biology. Take for instance the concept of a bedroom. Not every species even wants a quiet, enclosed place to sleep. The Tiwari are one of several species that sleep standing up, in brief snatches. By contrast, the froglike Lailar have to be submerged in water to sleep, because the respiration technique that enables them to breathe air requires them to be conscious. And for the Aegin, "sleep" means dissolving into a jellylike mass in a moist environment.
