Honor stood very still. It had risen only a little, day by day, earlier, but by now it was very visibly higher.
"Well, the world is flat."

At least they weren't out on the open yards of the Green Gables School of Magic -- first-graders were notoriously excitable and apt to forget rules and boundaries when they saw something that fascinated them. However, it would be less likely for a queen cat to have found a place to nest out there.
All the excitement was too much for the kittens, who wasted no time slipping back through the opening they'd come through. Already some of the children were trying to reach in and retrieve them.
"Let them rest." Magister Andorien spoke with the quiet authority of long experience with the young of all species. "They're frightened by so many eager young people. When they're ready to play, they'll come back out. Until then, let's go look at the erellien trees on the other side of the courtyard and see how their cones are developing."
