The queen had not come, but King Ambrose stood among them, talking with Florian. Violetta blinked, and looked on. Princess Leopoldine did not even seem to notice him, as she gaily talked with nobles, one of whom, Violetta thought, was Portia's father.
She felt glad when they reached the gate.
