She started to sew again. Every lady-in-waiting would act as if knowledge of how to act at court was innate. Then, all of them had been taught from the cradle in hopes they would claim such a position. It might as well be. She took another stitch. She could finish.

For a moment, she envied Donal. He looked as if he had been born knowing how to ride so elegantly and listen so gravely, as if he had not plotted their entire encounter with her.
