This week's prompt is:
innocent 😇

Anyone can join, with a 50-word creative fiction vignette in the comments. Your vignette does not have to include the prompt term. Any (G or PG) definition of the word can be used.

Ursula didn't raise her voice, just stated calmly, "I was using the word innocent in the sense of 'opposite of guilty,' not 'opposite of knowing, particularly in the sexual sense.' Don't twist my words to make them into something I didn't say."

The silence in the room became palpable, as if the air temperature had dropped a few degrees. Another student might've mumbled an apology or otherwise retreated, but she wasn't going to let it pass.

That determination would serve her well in the coming decades, and not just when she was teaching astronomy and statistics at Shepardsport. She was the one who caught a lot of the subtle games the Flannigan Administration was playing with words as the Sharp Wars really heated up in the wake of the Kitty Hawk Massacre.
