Date: 2026-05-11 02:00 am (UTC)Deni smiled. On the surface it would sound like she was making a killing. But between the incredible price of housing and the need to restock her supply, all those Benjamins had been a lot smaller than her youthful self back in Nebraska would've thought.
In many ways she was actually doing better here on Bodhidharma, even if she'd traveled the light-years involuntarily, scruffed along with everyone else in the LA Basin in the wake of the Watts Rebellion. Here she was the proud owner of the Waymeet Inn and the ground under it. Right now she was sleeping in the loft, but her lot was big enough to put a proper house on it if she wanted. At the present she was still the sole bartender, mostly because the Kitties were keeping bar hours strictly evenings, but she was developing a steady clientele.
Still she couldn't shake a certain nostalgia for the bright lights of the big city.
