autumnal times

A day gray with clouds, and in the woods, a dark bird swoops between the trees -- so large it looks like it could not fly between the trunks even while it does so, so dark it only vaguely suggests that it is some kind of hawk, though, to tell the truth, it could be a bat for what can be seen.

The vines turn before the trees, so that a tree still itself green is heavily burdened with the crimson leaves spreading over it.
