Photographing hallucinations
Aug. 11th, 2013 08:10 pmThis is weird.
A man takes photos to prove to the wife that her hallucinations aren't real,
but she sees the hallucinations in the photos.
Drug treatment mostly stops the hallucinations. EXCEPT --
She still sees them in the photos.

Date: 2013-08-12 01:35 pm (UTC)I'd be interested to see what happens if the husband flipped the negative (or reversed the image, whatever). Something I learned long ago in a How to Keep House book: Before starting to clean or tidy a room, look at it in a mirror. Everything is still there, but you're seeing it as if for the first time, and you SEE the dark areas and the clutter spots &c., that you stopped noticing long ago. Just so - would she still see the children and the woman &c in a reversed image?
This reminded me of a Jack Finney story where a guy had a box Brownie with a timer, and used it to take a vacation snapshot of him, his wife and kid. When the picture got developed, oops - he looks a little older, the kid is a teenager, and it's not the same woman. O my. Things got a bit frosty in that household. The investigator could see plainly that however it did it, that Brownie had torpedoed that marriage and it was doomed…
[Which leads to the obvious question: “What's really going to bake your noodle later on is, would you still have broken it if I hadn't said anything?” - The Matrix Would the marriage have broken up, and would that other woman be present at that time, if the retro-picture wasn't taken? Date: 2013-08-12 02:06 pm (UTC)One test of demonic possession is whether the allegedly possessed person can tell the difference between a consecrated host and an unconsecrated one. I wonder why that reminded me.
