Frank and Ernest has always hopped all over space and time, and occupations and even species, in search of the punch line (usually the pun). This collects a bunch in what we must call chronological sequence.
It opens with a cloud having an angel and God on it -- and the angel declaring, "Without form and void! How Zen!" And forges onward, unevenly through history. Pythagoras tells told that everyone will laugh at him if he calls it a hypotenuse. Indians praise the menu at the first Thanksgiving, except for one who grumbles that when Columbus came, he brought a pizza. And many more. All the way to the robots reading Darwin and calling it the wackiest R&D they ever heard of.
