Agatha H and the Clockwork Princess by Phil Foglio and Kaja Foglio

The novelization of the second trio of Agatha Heterodyne graphic novels.  And the one in which they found a grip on the new medium and started to use it to more advantage.

It sticks faithfully to the story as presented in the original, though some summary describes things that happened between the dramatic scenes, filling us in on details, like those of Agatha's stay with the circus, and how clanks started to work better even though no one saw her work on them, but they didn't want to raise the issue left it go away.  And we get more point-of-view from people.  (When Dimo asked, "But. . .. vy?", for instance, he surprised himself.)  Which also fills in details.

It also introduces footnotes with tantalizing tidibts of info about the world.  Did you know Alfonso Mucha was a Spark, one of the rare ones who turned artist rather than scientist?

Some of the footnotes are wonderful. Though I think my favorite part might be getting another tiny flashback to what the previous generation was like.

Not that I don't love Agatha's own story. But desperate curiosity about it usually takes the form of hopefully refreshing the comic page. :)

Ah, it's worse yet... *rueful smile* It can't be anything relevant enough to spoil Agatha's story, but it also can't be anything they don't consider relevant enough to somehow enhance it. There's not room for a lot of stuff about what they were like back in the day. But I still want to know.

I think it can only count as a spoiler if it affects something they're going to reveal later, not never at all....
